The co-chairs of NHS Staff Council have confirmed that NHS Staff Council has received a mandate to proceed with Agenda for Change (AfC) pay structure reform negotiations in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
In their statement, the co-chairs confirmed talks will begin next week.
The governments have made commitments that any agreed reform would be effective from 1 April 2026. So, if agreement is reached, backdating will apply. In addition, negotiations will explore the scope for any agreement to cover 2027-28 and 2028-29.
The Health Service Group Executive is overseeing this work, working with devolved health committees in UNISON Cymru and UNISON Northern Ireland.
