UNISON Welfare is a registered charity for the benefit of its members and their dependants.

It has assisted many members of the Branch but due to the confidential nature of the scheme members do not often hear about it - if you feel that you may qualify for assistance please apply safe in the knowledge that your application will be treated confidentially.

UNISON Welfare can help with:

  • Financial assistance
  • Debt advice
  • Holiday breaks
  • Personal advice
  • Listening and support

What may be claimed:

  • Sudden loss of income
  • Abnormal increase in expenditure
  • Death of a partner/dependant relative
  • Circumstances that have put an unreasonable financial burden on the household

The applications are sent to UNISON Welfare in London for assessment by a case worker.

The application will be assessed with consideration to:

  • Whether the applicant falls within the current policy
  • Financial position within the household
  • Personal circumstances e.g. health/domestic
  • What the applicant has done to improve matters

If the request is outside current policy special consideration may be given.
