Jon Towler has been appointed Interim Chairman of the Board of the East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS).

EMAS provides emergency and urgent care, patient transport, call handling and clinical triage services in the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.

Jon graduated in 1991 from Reims Business School with a double degree in International Business Administration and then spent the early part of his career in international sales management. He moved into general management roles in the late 1990s, spending 8 years as a Director of the UK's leading wholesaler of office products.

Jon joined NHS Nottinghamshire County in January 2009 as a non-executive director and took on the role of Acting Chair from October 2010, overseeing a £37.1million financial recovery programme.

Commenting on his appointment, Jon said: "EMAS is embarking on an exciting journey to achieve Foundation Trust status and I am delighted to be able to take up the opportunity of driving that process forward."
