It is again our sad duty to report the failings of the North West Ambulance Service, following the unacceptable way it responded to an emergency call.

And today we bring you the equally disturbing story of a terrified pensioner from Runcorn who – having waited more than an hour for an ambulance that never came, before being taken to Warrington Hospital by a paramedic in his car – learned that six ambulances were diverted from her call.
