What may be claimed:
- Sudden loss of income
- Abnormal increase in expenditure
- Death of a partner/dependant relative
- Circumstances that have put an unreasonable financial burden on the household
The applications are sent to UNISON Welfare in London for assessment by a case worker.
The application will be assessed with consideration to:
- Whether the applicant falls within the current policy
- Financial position within the household
- Personal circumstances e.g. health/domestic
- What the applicant has done to improve matters
If the request is outside current policy special consideration may be given.
